After getting several cookbooks at Christmas and my bridal shower last year, I began to notice that my kitchen cabinet was becoming overloaded and I had nowhere to put them; so I came to the realization that I had TOO many and something needed to be done. Some of my cookbooks have never been touched while others were used so much that the spine was torn and the pages were falling out. It started to drive me crazy on how much money I spent on some of these books and I never even opened them. So, I decided right then and there that I was going to take on a massive project that would in fact take me years to complete... Go through each cookbook one-by-one, select the recipes that I want to make (whether it is because the ingredients sounded awesome or the photo made me hungry at the time), then make it, tweak it if is worth keeping and if my husband or anyone else I happen to feed loves it, well then it will go into my own cookbook that I want to pass on to my children one day. After I get through my cookbooks I am going to donate them so someone else can enjoy them.
Sounds like a huge project, doesn't it? Well, hopefully I can continue to try new recipes at least twice a week so I can get the 100 recipes I need for volume 1 of my recipe collection cookbook on Tastebook and then I can continue with volumes 2, 3, 4 and so on, lol. I have 15 recipes added to it so far and it has only been 2 weeks since I started, so I hope that I can continue at this pace. My husband and I need to eat, right? So until something drastic happens in my life and I can no longer cook, my goal is to at least have volume 1 completed by June or July of this year.
I started off posting photos of everything I was making on Facebook, but a couple of my friends made a comment that I should start blogging about it. At first I didn't want to and the only reason was... Everyone is going to think that I am copying off of the movie/blog Julie and Julia and that I cannot be original. So, I thought to myself heck with it - I don't care what people think of my project. I am just having fun, cooking up food for my husband, family and friends and if the meal was a success it will be added to my own personal cookbook and keeping track about it on this blog is just an added bonus for interested viewers.
Hope you like the blog and want to cook up some of my favorites for your family to enjoy. Bon appétit!
